The Elmbridge garden waste collection service
A tricky period of all involved.
It would be disingenuous of us not to mention the garden waste collection service in a recap of the 2021/2022 council year.
Temporarily reducing or removing a service is not something we ever want to do at Elmbridge Borough Council. We pride ourselves on providing a high level of service to our residents. It was with a heavy heart that we were forced to temporarily suspend the garden waste collection service in Elmbridge in September 2021 due to the national shortage of HGV drivers.
Ray Lee, Director of Services at Elmbridge, explains how his team worked to resolve the situation for our customers:
“We worked through every possible option to get crews back out around Elmbridge – a recruitment drive, financial incentives for drivers, apprenticeship programmes, working with other boroughs, private contractors and community payback programmes. The team tried everything they could to get the service back up and running and in April 2022, we were delighted to announce the resumption of the service.”
Providing a quality service to our residents is of paramount importance to us at Elmbridge. Our people are dedicated to both the organisation and the local community; they will do everything they can to help Elmbridge thrive.
