Welcoming residents to our centres for the community
The team is thrilled to get back to in-person activity.
“Over 50,000 welfare calls cannot replace the benefits of human, in-person interaction for the members of our Elmbridge Centres for the Community.” Melanie Bussicott is Head of Community Support Services at Elmbridge, her team supports older and vulnerable residents around the borough, through the meals, activities, classes and social groups provided through our centres for the community.
“Of course, we needed to keep our members safe during the COVID pandemic; their wellbeing is our utmost priority. However, the excitement felt by all the Centre team when we fully reopened was so special and was reflected back in the faces of our members as they came through the doors again.
“One resident in Hersham was quite emotional as she arrived at the Centre, ready to see other people including friends she had not seen for 2 years.
“My team is committed to the Elmbridge community whether it is for homecooked meals, social activity, wellbeing appointments and exercise classes, transport, Meals on Wheels Services and specialist learning disability and dementia services. We have been so excited to welcome people back into our Centres.”
