Vote in the independent retailer of the year awards

Vote for your favourite retailer, café, restaurant, salon or special independent

This July the Elmbridge Independent Retailer of the Year Awards are back for a ninth successive year, giving shoppers the chance to vote for their favourite retailer, café, restaurant, salon or special independent who has gone above and beyond in recent times.

These past twelve months, our high streets and independent traders have shown once again why they are so valued in the community. When we needed a top up, a gift or a tasty treat to help us through this difficult time they answered the call.

This was shown in the fantastic response we had to our awards in 2020 where Evie Loves Toast in Cobham claimed the prestigious ‘Best Independent Retailer Award’ for Elmbridge.

Residents can once again vote online in July for their favourite across 7 categories as we seek to champion and promote our great local independents who have consistently delivered a quality offer and exceptional service. Categories include:

  • Best independent retailer

  • Best restaurant or café

  • Best for hair and/or beauty

  • Best for fashion

  • Best deli or grocer

  • Best for speciality products

  • Green business of the year

Councillor Bruce McDonald, Portfolio Holder for Corporate and Community Development said; “Our retail awards are a chance to say ‘thank you’ to our independent retailers who have been such a vital part of our communities over the past 12 months. The awards form part of our wider programme of support for the high streets through our Enterprise Elmbridge programme.

“In addition to providing over £30million of support from the national Covid grant programme over past the last year, we have helped directly support businesses with 29 digital high street grants, 24 start-up grants, 11 shop front and signage grants and 101 social distancing grants to help our businesses through the pandemic. As we continue to move through the national roadmap to the wider reopening we hope that residents will continue to safely use our high streets, shop local and support and vote for their favourite independent traders.”

How to vote

The vote opens at midday on 1 July and closes at midday on 31 July 2021.
