Green spaces maintenance contract awarded to Glendale Services

Green spaces maintenance contract awarded to Glendale Services

This new contract will help us to protect and enhance the quality of the local green spaces.

We are looking to the future of our parks and are delighted to award the green spaces maintenance contract to Glendale Services for the next 5 years. This includes Elmbridge’s open spaces, parks, recreation grounds, playgrounds, sports pitches and tennis courts.

The contract started in September and over the last weeks, Glendale’s staff have been familiarising themselves with the 100+ sites we manage in the borough. The team is now settling into their new work schedule.

This new contract will help us to protect and enhance the quality of the local green spaces we have all come to depend on and enjoyed even more over the last years.

Glendale’s wide experience of grounds maintenance will contribute towards protecting, enhancing and celebrating the quality of the Council’s cherished green spaces for the enjoyment of the community. We are confident they will help us deliver the best environment for the community in our open spaces while supporting wildlife and biodiversity wherever possible. This will come as good news to the majority of residents who have indicated in recent surveys how much value they put on increased biodiversity in open spaces.

Glendale’s views on sustainability and a greener environment in the maintenance of green spaces have been a contributing factor in our decision to award the contract as well as their use of electric vehicles and equipment. These practices reflect our commitment to reduce our carbon footprint and impact on the environment.

Councillor Janet Turner, Portfolio Holder for Leisure,Culture and Environment, said, “We know how much residents value their green spaces and how important they are for their physical health and wellbeing. With over 100 open spaces to manage, we have absolute confidence that Glendale will deliver the highest standards of service at all times. We believe they will make a valuable contribution in helping us to achieve our vision of a sustainable and thriving borough in tune with the environment and striving towards reducing our carbon footprint.”

Nick Brooks, Glendale Regional Director, South Thames, said, “Glendale “Elmbridge Borough Council has chosen Glendale as a family-owned, financially stable, green space specialist with over 30 years of experience. We’re a national company with a local feel, with market-leading technology to deliver on our promises. We are really looking forward to working with Elmbridge, providing an honest and transparent service by a dedicated team of directly
employed professionals whose drive and commitment extends to the local communities in which they serve.”

The ‘Glendale Live’ microsite providing information on key aspects of the service will be available shortly. It will be accessible to residents to see activities in real time. This means that we can expect a high level of service at all times.
